Garfield Elementary to celebrate
50 year anniversary

Garfield Elementary School is making plans to celebrate 50 years with a celebration at the campus at 4 p.m., Wednesday, May 2.

Garfield was built in 1956 to meet the needs of rapid growth in what was then the southern edge of the Pasadena Independent School District. The school is named after Charles L. Garfield, who served 19 years on the district’s Board of Trustees, including stints from 1913-1916 and 1922-1936.

The community and the school have seen many changes over the years. In 2000, district voters approved a bond issue that provided a new library and expanded main office space for the campus.

As part of the celebration plans, the campus is seeking to create a presentation of photos of past and present school activities. If you have photos you would like to contribute or would like more information, please call Kelley Hall at 713-740-0584 to schedule a time to have them scanned.
