Dobie students earn gold medals
at National HOSA Competition

For Dobie High School’s Cynthia Paredes and Tam Nguyen, the third time was definitely the charm when it came to competing at the National Health Occupations Students Association’s (HOSA) Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla.

After placing first at regionals in February and first at state in April, the two partnered together to take the top spot in the health career display category at the national event. Paredes and Nguyen’s pediatric cardiologist presentation topped 75 other entries in the category.

“I am extremely proud of these two students for their hard work and dedication,” said Dobie HOSA sponsor Anne Regier.

In addition to Paredes and Nguyen’s gold medals, Dobie’s Luis Baez attended the conference and was elected president-elect of HOSA’s national executive council. He will assume his presidential duties in 2008. More information on the conference can be found by visiting the HOSA website at www.hosa.org.
