The Texas Education Agency announced that two schools earned
exemplary status and 22 campuses in the Pasadena Independent School
District received recognized ratings as a result of test scores on
the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS).
The district received an academically acceptable rating for its
overall scores, with Frazier Elementary and Kruse Elementary
receiving the two exemplary ratings.
Schools receiving recognized status were Bailey Elementary, Gardens
Elementary, Pearl Hall Elementary, Pomeroy Elementary, Richey
Elementary, Mae Smythe Elementary, South Houston Elementary, South
Shaver Elementary, Stuchbery Elementary, Atkinson Elementary,
Burnett Elementary, Moore Elementary, Young Elementary, Sparks
Elementary, Turner Elementary, Morales Elementary, Matthys
Elementary, Park View Intermediate, San Jacinto Intermediate,
Southmore Intermediate, Bondy Intermediate and Thompson
Intermediate.
“Principals and teachers are working hard to make good things happen
for the students of this district,” said Pasadena ISD Superintendent
Kirk Lewis. “The success of our students depends on all educators,
parents and the community working together to improve the
educational program in our district. Our educators are committed to
making a positive impact in children’s lives every day.”
“In some areas, we know that we know there is room for improvement,”
he added. “Our goal is continuous improvement in all areas. “We are
always looking for new ways to ensure that students are reaching
that higher level of achievement. Our principals and teachers are
among the most caring and skilled educators in Texas that truly
believe that the greatest gift we can give to the students of this
district are not simply to teach them what to learn, but to teach
them how to learn.”
The district also had 27 campuses rated academically acceptable.
Schools receiving this rating included Fisher Elementary, Freeman
Elementary, Garfield Elementary, Genoa Elementary, Golden Acres
Elementary, Jessup Elementary, Meador Elementary, Parks Elementary,
Red Bluff Elementary, L.F. Smith Elementary, Williams Elementary,
McMasters Elementary, Jensen Elementary, Teague Elementary, Morris
Fifth Grade Center, De Zavala Fifth Grade Center, Laura Bush
Elementary, Schneider Middle School, Beverly Hills Intermediate,
Jackson Intermediate, Queens Intermediate, Miller Intermediate,
South Houston Intermediate, Sam Rayburn High School, Dobie High
School, South Houston High School and Pasadena Memorial High School.
