Moore Elementary School's Pat Granger and
Morris Fuselier of Pasadena High School were recently named Pasadena
ISD's Region IV Principals of the Year.
The two principals, along with other Region IV principals of the
year from surrounding districts, will be honored at a special
recognition dinner at the Houstonian Hotel and Resort in June.
Both Granger and Fuselier have served as principals at their
respective campuses since 2002. Region IV began the Principal of the
Year program in 2001, allowing each district in the area to select
an elementary and secondary principal of the year.
The principals were nominated because of their focus of high
expectations for all students, their vision and focus and
establishing a culture of support for students and staff on their
campuses.
According to Deputy Superintendent Vicki Thomas, Granger has
captured the admiration of Moore Elementary’s parents, students and
teachers.
“She is a gracious and compassionate leader,” Thomas said. “Each
decision she makes is focused on what is best for children. Her
abilities as an instructional leader are unmatched. She constantly
seeks to improve the system in order to better meet the needs of
children she serves.”
Thomas added that Fuselier has made aggressive outreach efforts to
the community that Pasadena High School serves and has built a
supportive learning climate for the students.
“Morris has an outstanding vision of what an excellent school should
be. One of his greatest attributes is his ability to build strong
relationships and enduring bonds with students,” she said. “The
students admire and respect him and know that he is their
champion. He is a collaborative leader who works every day to make
Pasadena High School a premier educational setting for students.”
Last year, Kruse Elementary’s Rosie Prusz and The Summit’s Chris
Bolyard received the Region IV award. Sherry Meynier and Jackson
Intermediate's DeeAnn Woitena also received the award in 2003-04. In
2002-03, Garfield Elementary's Debbie Barrett and Miller
Intermediate's Darla Massey received the award. In 2001-02, Young
Elementary principal Shirlyn Ross and former Jackson Intermediate
and current South Houston High School principal Deborah Aubin were
honored. |
