Pasadena ISD students to compete in Big Shoot-Out

Pasadena ISD elementary and intermediate school students will show off their basketball skills in this year’s districtwide Big Shoot-Out Competition on Feb. 12 at the Phillips Field House.

The Big Shoot-Out is a contest open to girls and boys districtwide in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth grades. The competition will start with the third graders at 3:45 p.m. followed by fourth graders at 5 p.m., fifth graders at 6 p.m. and sixth graders at 7 p.m.

The contest consists of two parts. Participants will shoot from numbered “hotspots” for one minute and will also do the “dribble, weave, pass,” which is run against time. Scores from the two parts of the contest are added together to determine the winners.

Competing students are the local school “champions” representing participating campuses. Trophies will be presented to the first, second and third place winners in each grade level for girls and boys.
