PHS head football coach named to Hall of Honor

Pasadena High School head football coach Wes Bryant has been selected by the Greater Houston Football Coaches Association to receive the Ronnie Bell Hall of Honor Award. The award is presented to coaches that have made outstanding contributions to the game and in students’ lives.

Bryant has been associated with Pasadena ISD and Pasadena High School for 17 years and has been an educator for 41 years. Bryant has served as head football coach at PHS for four years.

Bryant felt humbled that other head coaches in the greater Houston area selected him for the award. Bryant will be selected to the Hall of Honor along with three other candidates.

“It makes you feel real good that your peers think of you,” Bryant said. “With all of the candidates and they select me to the Hall of Honor, it’s real humbling.”

Bryant felt the reason why he was selected to receive the award was because of the positive influences that he has made on Pasadena ISD students past and present.

“It’s not about winning and losing games,” Bryant said. “It’s about the positive influences that you make on these kids. The Ronnie Bell Award is an honor, but I just enjoy doing what I’m doing.”

The GHFCA is heavily involved within the greater Houston community. The organization holds events such as their annual food drive in December, spring football clinics for athletes and coaches, a spring barbecue, and the 7-on-7 football tournament in the summer.
