In its bi-annual Dream Makers event, the Pasadena ISD Education Foundation awarded more than $78,000 in the form of 21 mini-grants. This is the largest amount the Foundation has been able to award at one time since its inception.

Southmore Intermediate was a first-time recipient and received two grants for science projects "Southmore Science in a Technical World" and "Weather Bug for Bulldogs."

Other recipient schools include Parks, Williams, Fisher, Mae Smythe, Burnett, Garfield and Matthys elementary schools; Morris Fifth Grade Center; Jackson and Miller intermediate schools; and Sam Rayburn, Pasadena and Pasadena Memorial high schools.

Foundation board members and representatives of contributing companies surprised the winning schools with balloons, goodies, checks and lots of noise.

The Spring Education Foundation mini-grant deadline is Feb. 14 at 4:30 p.m. in the foundation's office located in the Administration Building.
