Intermediate School GEAR UP Science Club students,
faculty and staff, parents and honored guests held a
groundbreaking ceremony recently to begin work on
the nature center planned to be built in the
school's atrium.
Students explained to the audience the nature center
would help them improve their surroundings as well
as learn about the ecosystem necessary to make the
nature center a beautiful place to learn.
Guests received special potted flowers as a
“thank-you” for attending. The GEAR UP counselor
Pileirol Retta, counselor Pam Mayfield and science
teachers Catherine Betts and Jasmin Freeman-Brooks
were responsible for guiding the students through
the event.
