Stephens has served as the assistant director since 2004. He will replace Dick Nance, who will retire after more than 30 years with the district. Before moving into athletic administration, he was head football coach and campus athletic coordinator at Dobie High School from 1999-2004. He came to Pasadena ISD as an assistant football coach at Dobie in 1996. The 30-year educator has worked in Aldine and Klein, and also in the Ector County ISD in west Texas. Stephens was an assistant football coach on the 1988 and the 1989 state champion Odessa Permian teams that were featured in the book and motion picture “Friday Night Lights.” Stephens graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physical education and history from McMurry College and earned his master’s from Prairie View A&M University. |
