The Pasadena Association of Educational Office
Personnel presented two San Jacinto College scholarships to Dobie
High School’s Brenda Escamilla and South Houston High School’s
Sergio Gonzalez at the organization’s final meeting of the school
year.
PAEOP holds fundraisers during the school
year so the association may fund annual San Jacinto College
scholarships and provide funding for student assistance in other
areas of the district. More than $17,000 has been given to schools
and students of Pasadena ISD in the last four out of five years.
In addition to the scholarships, the
association presented a $1,000 donation for the libraries at Carter
Lomax and Ernesteen Milstead middle schools. The schools will open
in the fall of this year.
In other PAEOP news, the association handed out
its first-ever “Boss of the Year” award to Pam Grossman, the
district’s director for Alternative Certification. Other nominees
included were Gayle Holder, C.L. Ellis, Thom Sewell, Chris Bolyard,
Greg Williams, Gloria Gallegos, Anna Winand, Susan Wadlington, Kay
McBride, Marsha Jones, Celia Layton, Mel Capelo and Sharon
Ainsworth. The PAEOP MVP award was presented at the meeting and
Kathleen Larson from the Associate Superintendent for Campus
Development office received the honor.
The Pasadena Association of Educational Office
Personnel has been an active working support staff organization for
over 50 years. Their mission is to be a working service
organization giving it's members the opportunity to share and
network job responsibilities, provide staff development for
increasing the knowledge, quality, and skills of non-certified
support staff and raising funds to assist with Pasadena ISD student
needs. |
