  • When typing in word, just quickly put your thoughts down. Try not to worry about looks or specific formatting until after you've finished writing. At that point, it’s time to use Format Painter, a tool in Microsoft Word.

Select the text or place the cursor on the text that has the font, style and size you want to copy. This could even be in another document, allowing you to style a new document exactly like the older document (click “Window” to switch between documents). Click Format Painter.

Select the text that will be ‘painted’ with the font, style, and size you’ve copied. As noted above, this could even be a different document.

If you want to select several different text areas of your document, double-click on the Format Painter.

Just remember to click Format Painter off or it will keep formatting whatever you click.

Click or select a line or paragraph and the new format will be applied to the entire paragraph.

Bullets and numbering can also be copied with Format Painter.

      Promethean Boards
    Prometheus
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Greek mythology, 'Prometheus (Ancient Greek, Προμηθεύς, "forethought") is the Titan chiefly honored for stealing fire from the gods in the stalk of a fennel plant and giving it to mortals for their use.
Taking after Greek Mythology, Promethean Boards are giving students the power in learning. Students and teachers are able to interact with content in front of the entire class. Using the Active Pen, teachers and students can control the computer from board. This allows teachers to modify content on their computers just like on an overhead. So put away your overhead and get out your keyboard.

Several of you might be saying "WAIT, I have 10 years of material on transparencies!" Don't worry. With an additional document camera all your materials can be used and none of your collection is wasted. However, the ability to use the entire Internet as a resource will quickly put your transparency collection to shame. Think about it, instead of having one or two maps of Europe you now have Google Earth as your map or one of the several online resources for maps.

"I have a promethean board but where are these online resources for me?"

Good question! There are several ranging from SAILOn to Promethean Planet. SAILOn is a collaborative effort of 7 public school districts in the Houston, Texas whose goal is to help classroom teachers integrate technology into their curriculum by identifying and providing interactive Internet resources addressing specific objectives. Within this site alone there are over 500 activities ranging from K-12.

Promethean Planet is another great resource to find pre-made activities. This site does require you to create an account BUT the account is FREE. Once you have created an account you can search the resources by topic or state standard.

By using these great resources, Promethean has given fire to learning.
