Library Mission Statement

Every organization has a mission and/or goals that shape their vision. In our library, the mission statement is derived from the guiding principles of the American Library Association as outlined in the book, Information Power: Building Partnerships for Learning.

The Golden Acres Learning Resource Center has the following mission statement:

The mission of the Golden Acres Learning Resource Center's library program is to ensure that all students and staff members are effective users of ideas and information.  Our mission will be accomplished by:

•  providing intellectual and physical access to materials in all formats,
• providing engaging instruction that fosters competence in information seeking skills and stimulates interest in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas, and
• working in collaboration with other educators and library professionals in designing learning strategies to meet the needs of individual students.
