The Heritage Society Trundles By Gardens
This was an educational program that teaches students about the past through three-dimensional historical objects, such as early candle molds and corn husk dolls. A unique learning experience for upper elementary students studying the early times in Texas. Our presenter is also a spinner and weaver; she will brought her spinning wheel and some samples of her home-woven items. She explained how cotton is cleaned, carded, and spun, using the combs and spinning wheel, and how the cloth is dyed, using natural elements. This really brought home to the students what life was like during the pioneer times (pre-Wal-Mart).
