Gardens Elementary

FAMILY READING NIGHT

organized by Gardens Counselor Liliana Garza and friends

Parents, children and teachers took time out from busy schedules to enjoy an evening together playing reading games. Each grade level, prekinder through fourth, set up a table with games to represent various skills taught at that level. Each grade also had a game that could be made and taken home for the students to play with their parents. There were books to read, as well, and suggested reading lists. All were invited to dress as their favorite

book character, although many just decided to come as characters. Door prizes and trick or treat cauldrons were provided, to the delight of the adults and children alike. Take a minute to browse through the photos taken by the Blue Fairy -- the children are precious and the parents, deservedly proud.

Please don't make us walk the plank!

Cinderella at the ball!
Superman has come to save the day! The Power Ranger is taking good care of his sister.
Princess Jazmin honors us with her presence. Old students came back to visit, as well. How's it going, Ines?
The After School Program was selling nachos - and were they delicious! Great smile, young man!
Batman brought along a princess - taking a break from saving the world. The kitty is checking out the traffic at her center.
Little Miss Pirate isn't at all camera-shy, but her brother is rather suspicious of the Fairy.
Her previous experience with the school's cafeteria involved noisy science experiments -- hence the dismay..... Another former student, a little embarrassed to find himself back in the elementary school.
Close families are a terrific achievement, and a blessing to all of us! The refreshment stand has a cheerful and patient assistant.
Mr. Major, a recent addition to our fourth grade team, pitches right in at the game table. From all points of view, the evening was a great success!

Baby has the best seat in the house - although she didn't stay there long. Uhhhh - don't look now, but there's something on your head!
Proud Mom cuddles her little one - I don't think this is a costume; it's a real Mom and daughter! Snow White left the dwarves tending to business, and dropped by to visit. (Hey, Mom, she wants to make sure you see this!)
Johnny Appleseed and Red Riding Hood took time out from their busy lives to share a bowl of nachos. Clifford sends an enthusiastic greeting to the Web folk!
I don't think he's quite as upset as he seems to be... Well, come right in, princess! This will be fun!
This puppy was allowed in, promising good behaviour. His friend was amused by that. Wow! A bona fide angel!
I think this is a hermit crab - he sank back in there and pulled the hood over himself. He only came out so that Mom could be photographed, too.
A moment's rest in the evening as the door prizes are called. Diligent student!
The principal has the magic touch with small ones! Bet y'all didn't know reading could be this much fun, huh?
