FAMILY MATH NIGHT

AT GARDENS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

SPONSORED BY OUR COUNSELOR, MRS. MARYLOU GARZA

Mrs. Garza arranged a this event to encourage parents, a child's best teachers, to stay involved with their growing children. Each parent attending received a deck of cards, a set of dice, and instructions to three games which focused on math skills. The parents and grandparents quickly set out to win -- and the students quickly set out to show off their own skills. We said that the one with the least points had to wash the dishes...I wonder if that took place?

Our principal was there with her granddaughter.

There were door prizes later in the evening.

I'm going to win - no dishes for me!

Families enjoyed the time to be together.

And the kids helped make sure the directions were followed!

This makes you think! Ouch! Intent on the activity.
Are you sure? I'm winning, Mrs. Holcomb, I'm winning!
Mrs. Palco assists. Ms. Wiseburn explains.
Teachers jumping right in, all excited! Like this, Dad!
Rounding, multiplying, subtracting - the parents caught on fast. There was a hubbub and a lot of laughter.
The younger kids got to go watch a movie and play. There were wiggly, happy people here.
