THE COMMANDOS VISIT GARDENS
To the delight of the students at Gardens, the Commandos rappelled down to visit, |
performing such feats of strength as rolling a frying pan into a 'burrito', |
tearing residential phonebooks into confetti and breaking the stack of cement blocks seen in the background here. |
Interspersed with the action, the team talked to the children about the need for hard work to reach the goals one sets for one's self, and the need for self-discipline. |
There are so many things which can distract you from your future, the young men said, |
such as drugs and peer pressure to do wrong -- "But you can bust through these!" and they proceeded to split the wood blocks against their heads. |
The children were enthralled! |
The message of patriotism and the strength of our country was heard and understood. |
A two inch steel bar was turned into a twizzle stick by one of the team, |
to the tune of rousing cheers from the spectators. |
Even the most restless little body was intent on their words and responsive to the questions. |
Did you know that it takes about 300 psi pressure to explode a can of soda? |
And how exactly do you calculate it so that you have a bit left to drink? |
Afterwards, it was difficult to pry the children from the gym! |
