Area Educator Receives National Recognition
For multiple years in a row, a local teacher has received recognition for outstanding performance in reading education, Renaissance Learning announced today.
" Arlene E. Kovack-Garpne's continuing commitment to reading and reading practice translates into success for every child," Renaissance Learning President Don Peek said in making the award.
To receive Reading Renaissance Model Classroom certification, a teacher must demonstrate that their students receive a minimum of sixty minutes of reading practice time daily. In addition, teachers must be actively working with individual students to meet Renaissance-recommended standards for reading achievement. Educators become eligible for Model Classroom recertification after they have maintained certification for one full year.
In addition to national recognition, Gardens Elementary School will receive a certificate in recognition of Arlene E. Kovack-Garpne's class-wide achievement.
