A member of the once mighty buffalo herds which provided food, clothing, and shelter to the plains Indian tribes

Are we looking at the longhorn, or is he looking at us?

This magnificent longhorn is a descendent of a sturdy breed perfectly suited to the hard times of early Texas.

Buffalos, otters, and skunks -- oh my! (and beaver, too!)

This section of the exhibit presented African dress and customs. First thing the kids noticed: no backpacks needed. Just use your head.

The African tribesman then showed the children how to build a fire. (Don't try this at home!)

The tribesmen also entertained the enthusiastic guests with African folksongs.

Yipes! Stripes! This camouflaged equine carefully studied all the children.

With stomachs humming happily, the Gardens Brains partook of their picnic lunch, and remembered their favorite moments from their trip.
