3. LIFE CYCLE

Plant life cycles differ. Often plants are described as annual, perennial , or biennial, according to how long it takes them to seed, grow, flower and bear their own seeds before dying.

Annuals, such as tomatoes, complete their cycle in a year. They must be planted again the following year.             

Perennials, such as roses, can live for three or more years.
Biennials, such as carrots, complete their life cycles in about two years.
