Students at all Pasadena Independent School District campuses must follow the district's standardized dress or uniform policy. The policy was set last year in response to the growing number of safety problems in schools across the nation.

"Personnel who work on our campuses indicate fewer discipline problems exist, school climate is more positive and more time is devoted to instruction since dress code issues no longer take the time of teachers and staff," Superintendent Rick Schneider said. "Similar results have been experienced in school districts across the country.

In addition to the dress code policy, students are allowed only to use only clear backpacks to carry their books and school materials. By using clear backpacks, school personnel are able to more easily detect any non-related school articles or dangerous items.

Each school has some discretion as to what form of standardized dress to implement. This includes colors, types of clothing and allowances for school spirit days.

Local retailers are aware of the dress code and clear backpack policies to allow for ample supply in the stores before the start of school. For more information about standardized dress guidelines at specific campuses, please contact the campus principal or administrator.

Immunizations

A student who has not previously been enrolled in a school and/or district in the United States must obtain immunizations - to the extent it is medically feasible - before he/she will be permitted to enroll. Thereafter, additional immunizations must be completed as soon as it is medically feasible.

A student entering from another school and/or district in the United States shall be allowed to enroll pending receipt of immunization records. A grace period of no more than thirty (30) days shall be allowed for the school to receive such records. One week shall be allowed for updating incomplete immunization records received during this 30-day period.
