Dear PISD Mentors,
     It is hard to believe that we are almost halfway through the spring semester.   Thank you for all the hard work and a great job on the completion of your observation forms.   We are collecting great data for our new teachers.  It is obvious that mentors and new teachers are having deep conversations about classroom practice. 

     Now is the time for you to begin focusing on catching up with your observations if you are a bit behind.   We would like for all observations to be completed by the end of April, before we begin TAKS testing.   Only in extenuating circumstances should the observations extend into May.  

     Mentor weekly contact logs will be due by May 15, 2008.  Please continue to make entries in your logs until this second week of May.  In addition, please make sure you are sending external programs copies of our PISD observation protocols and completing their required paperwork.   

     *  If you did not attend mentor training either in the fall or in the spring semester, stipends will not be paid for the spring until the training requirement is fulfilled.   Mentor training sessions will be offered again several times in the month of June 2008.  (Exact dates will be published in Eduphoria when the summer staff development calendar is released.)
