Foundation,
Alumni Association
join forces
The Pasadena Chamber of
Commerce Education Foundation merged with the Pasadena Independent
School District Alumni Association recently to form the Pasadena ISD
Education and Alumni Foundation.
"The benefits of the
merger are endless," said Herman Williams, president of the Alumni
Association. "These two organizations have the same goal -- to help
the students of our district receive a quality education."

PUTTING OTHERS
FIRST MAKES
BILL SHOCK PASADENA ISD'S...
DISTINGUISHED ALUMNUS 2001
Step into the HOSTS room on any given day of
the week at Parks Elementary and you are likely to see Bill
Shock. If he's not there, he could be in another part of the
school helping judge a science fair or assisting in another
volunteer project.
If it is not a school day, you could find him lending a helping
hand to a church or community project. You may even see him
volunteering his time at Space Center Houston. The list of
Shock's volunteer efforts goes on and on.
The 1954 graduate of Pasadena High School
always has put others' needs first. It is because of his
heartfelt generosity that Shock has been named the Pasadena
Independent School District's Distinguished Alumnus for
2001.
Shock will formally receive the honor at a
reception at 6:30 p.m. on March 22 at the district's
Administration Building, 1515 Cherrybrook.
This annual award recognizes an alumnus who
has made significant contributions to society and whose
accomplishments and career have brought credit to the Pasadena
school district. "I just love helping people," Shock
says. "I'm not a person who can just sit still. I want to
be doing something where I can be making a difference.
Volunteering gives me great joy and meaning to my retirement. I
hope my actions will motivate others to do the same."
