Education and Alumni Foundation
awards $2,500 in scholarships

The Pasadena ISD Education and Alumni Foundation awarded five $500 scholarships to students from each of the four high schools and Tegeler Career Center.

Scholarship recipients include Stacie Holt from Dobie High School, Su Quoc Le from Pasadena High School, Charles Barnes from Sam Rayburn High School, Cecelia “Cece” Caballero from South Houston High School and Melissa Patty from the Tegeler Career Center.

Another Badge of Honor
World War II veteran, Bronze Star honoree receives diploma

William Koenig put his life on the line as a soldier in the U.S. Army to preserve America's freedom during World War II. For his valor, he received three Bronze Stars, one of the highest awards the military can bestow.

Now, 56 years later, he received an honor that has just as special of a meaning - his high school diploma. Koenig was suppose to graduate from Pasadena High School in 1945. Those plans were put on hold when he was called to serve his country. "It was an honor to serve my country," he said. "I felt it was important though to get my high school diploma. I guess you could say I'm pretty excited."
