Welcome to Laura Bush Elementary!   In the 2008-2009 school year, we will begin our 3rd year of educating young children and developing rich traditions.  What an exciting adventure we have started as we purposefully build culture and make history at Laura Bush Elementary! 

            This is my 20th year as an educator.  I was the principal at Garfield Elementary from 1997-2005.  I was named the Principal of Laura Bush Elementary in October of 2005.  I have a BA in Education & Child Development  and a Masters degree in School Administration from the University of Houston at Clear Lake.  It has been my privilege to help design and open Laura Bush Elementary in August of 2006.  

            Many exciting lessons are taught each day through our state-of-the-art technology.  Each classroom is equipped with an interactive whiteboard that has the capability of accessing the internet with games & lessons.  It is a definite change from the typical classroom of the past. Our students are enjoying their lessons in a high-tech learning environment. 

            We have many exciting programs at LBE.  One outstanding program is Dual Language.  In this program, students can apply to learn in both  English and Spanish.  The program is a 50/50 Dual Language model with highly qualified educators.  The objective of the program is for students to add a language while becoming bilingual and biliterate.  They also learn to respect other languages & cultures.

            While visiting our campus and our Dual Language program, don't forget to check out our fabulous music program, developmental pre-k program, cutting edge library resource center and our innovative sensory lab.  All of our programs are directed by highly qualified professionals that love what they do for children each day.   

             We have made great strides as we move into our 3rd year!  Our campus is now a Recognized Campus by the Texas Education Agency.   We have also received a Gold Performance Acknowledgement in Writing!    The faculty, staff and administration are looking forward to a great year in 2008-2009!  We know our students are happy to be part of the Laura Bush Elementary family.    As we enter a presidential election year, our theme for the year is, "United We Stand"!   We will be focusing on each person's unique contribution and responsibility in a larger society.
